Takapuna Dessert Cafe & Cakery


We make and bake all our own desserts using only the finest ingredients; 53% couverture chocolate, free range eggs, gourmet natural ice cream and freshly whipped cream.

Chocolate Mousse (GF)
Topped with soft whipped cream. Served with berry compote.

Belgium Chocolate Cake (GF)
Served with a scoop of ice cream of your choice.

Cookie Sandwich
Gourmet ice cream sandwiched between two house made chocolate chip cookies. Drizzled with ganache.

Chocolate Brownie
Two slices of house made triple chocolate brownie drizzled with ganache. Served with ice cream and berry compote.

Vanilla bean ice cream. Crushed amaretti biscuit. Drizzled with ganache. Served with a double shot of espresso.

Dulche de Leche (GF)
Salted caramel ice cream. Banana. Toasted coconut. Drizzled with caramel.

Eton Mess (GF)
Crushed raspberry meringues. Strawberry ice cream and berries delightfully messed up.

Banana Split (GF)
Banana cut down the middle. Vanilla bean and chocolate ice cream. Drizzled with ganache and nuts.

Neapolitan Sundae (GF)
Three scoops of ice cream. Cream. Topped with liquid chocolate or berry compote.

Raspberry Meringues (GF)
Raspberry meringues. Cream. Berry compote.

Hot Chocolate Pudding
Gooey centred chocolate pudding. Drizzled in ganache. Served with a scoop of ice cream and berry compote.

Spiced Apple Pudding
Topped with cinnamon apples. Served with custard and cream.


Liege Waffles

Hints of vanilla bean, honey and caramelised pearl sugar. Made every morning by the team using authentic ingredients then left for 24 hours to let the magic happen.

Simply dusted with icing sugar.

French Toast
Streaky bacon. Caramelised banana. Vanilla, maple syrup and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.

Marinated Strawberries and Lime
Strawberries. Lime. Vodka. Berry glaze. Cream and a sprinkle of lime zest.

Blueberry Mascarpone
Mascarpone. Chunky blueberry jam. Drizzled with berry glaze.

HOT CHOCOLATE and MOCHAs made with our 53% liquid dark couverture chocolate – taste the difference! Add some flair with one of our flavour shots and for a dairy free option ask for Soy or Almond milk.

Our expert barristers will keep you buzzing with our award winning Chaisso COFFEE and all made with a double shot of espresso.

Harney & Sons TEA is served both hot and cold. Hot tea is served in your own pot with fine china cups and the organic iced teas are delightful.

For hot days try our MILK SHAKES or ICED DRINKS both made with Kohu Road ice cream and Barkers quality flavours. Karma Cola provides a delectable range of drinks with bubbles using organic and fair trade ingredients including Karma Cola, Gingerella and Lemmy Lemonade.



Cakes Baked for You

Talk to us if you are looking for a quality cake to help you celebrate your wedding, anniversary, farewell, birthday, thank you, any special occasion or maybe just a treat! Our cakes are baked and finished by our experienced patisserie chefs. We care that your cake not only looks great but tastes great too and so we only use quality ingredients including local free-range eggs.

We have a number of house specialty cakes including carrot, lemon and of course our rich chocolate cake made with beautiful dark Belgium couverture chocolate. Although we love baking these cakes we would be happy to discuss any flavour combination you would like. Our standard finishes can also be tailored and changed to suit your requirements or we can fully personalise your cake to match your celebration.

Our cakes are made to order and priced on consultation. Specialty cakes require a two day lead time however customised cakes with bespoke finishing will take a minimum of five days. Please talk to one of the team if you would like to know more.


Ice Cream

Scoop Ice Cream

Our scoop ice cream from Kohu Road and Gelato Workshop are both natural and absolutely delish! Our ice creams are served either in a lovely waffle cone or in a takeaway cup or old fashioned glass bowl.

We also carry the famous Ben & Jerry's American ice cream available in takeaway tubs only either 120ml or the family size 458ml. The ice cream comes in five flavours; chocolate fudge brownie, chocolate chip cookie, strawberry cheesecake, half baked and triple caramel chunk.


Chocolates & Gifts

Our chocolate cabinet is always full of our latest creations so you can choose your own or select one of our many gifts boxes already packed and ready to go. We also have a large range of gifts including hampers, baskets, pampery products and artisan products from numerous NZ manufacturers.
